ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES MORE IMPORTANT THAN EVER BEFORE
Around the birth of Christ everyone "knew" that the earth was flat. Before Copernicus book ”On the Revolution of the Celestial Spheres” 1543, everyone knew that earth was the centre of the universe. Today there are still people that ”know” that the climate is not affected by our emissions of green house gases. But know this: The global land and ocean surface temperature during January–April 2017 was 0.95°C above the 20th century average of 12.6°C. This was the second highest such period since records began in 1880, behind 2016 by 0.19°C and ahead of 2015 by 0.10°C according to the american weather service NOAA. According to IPCC (Inter Governmental Panel on Climate Change) we have to break all trends and prognoses and start decreasing global emissions no later than 2020 if we want to steer clear from a two degree temperature increase. And that is no walk in the park.
